Ten Minutes to kick-off

‘Ten minutes to kick-off’ is a painting which The Prospectory commissioned from Swansea-based artist Nick Holly to celebrate the Llanelli Scarlets’ time at Stradey Park. It captures the atmosphere of a rugby match day at any time from the 1950’s to the present day. The crowd is trickling in: children bounce with excitement while adults make their way to their favourite seat, greet old friends and chat about the game they are about to see.

Known as “The Welsh Lowry”, Nick Holly draws his inspiration from his local community in industrial South Wales. Holly’s Naïve studies of everyday life are regularly exhibited in galleries across Wales and in London he is represented by The Russell Gallery. His paintings appear in the National Library of Wales collection.

‘Ten minutes to kick-off’ is available as a limited edition Giclee Print of 135
(one for each year of Scarlet history). The prints conform to the highest Fine Art Trade Guild standards and are printed on heavy, acid-free etching paper. Each one is individually signed and numbered by the artist, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

We no longer sell this A3 (30 by 47cm) print but have a few left which we are happy to part with in exchange for a donation of £99 which we make to a rugby related charity – currently My Name’5 Doddie Foundation raising money for Motor Neurone Disease. Please contact Alison Kidd via e-mail if you would like one of these prints.
